Post-Cleaning BT Probe SIGNIFICANT Lag

I did a much needed deep clean last week and fired up my Bullet for a roast this morning. Never seen the BT Probe lag this far behind before? There was a lot of buildup on the probe when I was cleaning and I tried to scrap as much off as I could. Is it possible to damage the BT Probe with a razor blade?

FYI: this is was the first and only roast of the day so the curve is a bit more erratic than usual for that recipe and the IBTS lens was sparkly clean.

Is it possible that the IBTS was dirty before your deep-clean, and that it was reading lower then at the same temp than it is now? That would also explain the gap, right? IIRC as the IBTS becomes clouded with residues, the primary symptom is lower FC temps for the same bean/profile(and all other temps too, one would assume.)

FWIW that gap doesn’t look that big to me, but the chart doesn’t say how big the batch is. For me, 500g batches typically have a spread like that the doesn’t converge unless I take the batch to second crack. Larger (750+) batches normally cross over somewhere in the vicinity of first crack, slightly before or after usually.

Looking at the graph, the probe does not seem damaged. Theoretically, you could damage the probe with a razor blade if you scrape off some metal but, I repeat, it doesn’t seem to be the case. Anyway, never ever use a razor blade on the probe. A delicate, damp, non-scratch scrubbing sponge with a little baking soda on it should be enough to clean your bean probe. I’ve posted a picture of the result on the forum somewhere, but I don’t have the time to look for it now.

Sorry forgot to include that. 775g batch size. Typically the lines cross as you described.

IBTS was dirty which was part of the reason I needed to clean everything. I’ve just never seen a gap this large before and was curious. Thanks @braca19452f9m for the linked post. I’ll check it out.

Now I’ve linked it because a little time presented itself. This is the one with the photos and, a couple of posts down, there are links for sponges and other products.
