R2/R2 Pro Firmware 66 Problem: Dead Man's Switch

firmware 69: twice around 4:44 the dead mans warning alerts, drops power to zero, changes fan speed and puts up a IGTS warning/error? FYI

Thank you for explaining this. Does firmware 46 (I think thats what I’m on) include this feature? I haven’t encountered the warning as of yet.

Does this happen before the one minute timeout? Do you not have time to clear the warning?

This happens right as the dead man warnings starts, it changes power and fan, I push f2 to stop the dead man warning, and reset power and fan. Back to 46 for now, keep trying as firmware updates come out.

i am at 69 now and i tried avoid it by clicking buttons right before 180c and yet it still gave me the warning. if i failed to overwrite it by clicking button within like 3 secs (definitely not one minute) it will put my power down to 0 which is utterly annoying. Not to mention for some reason clicking bean temp button somehow won’t overwrite the warning sometimes. happened today
please fix this , in the mean time in will roll back to 46 for now.

cheers,

Yes, I went back to v. 46 at the first sign of the “Dead Man’s Switch” and the problems people have had with it. With 46, my R2 Pro performs flawlessly and I never see any alerts from the “Dead Man’s Switch.”

While I applaud Aillio for trying to implement safety protocols, I personally believe that coffee roasting has inherent risks and anyone who invests in a roaster of this level understands these risks and is able to manage them, similar to how people are trusted to manage their own barbecues, ovens, and toasters, which can often reach similar temperatures.
