Iām not finding Release Notes⦠where in RT are they?
Bruce
Interesting⦠not in RT 2.5.1-alpha. As I type this Iām connected to the internet but not to the Bullet. However, it appears you werenāt connected to your Bullet for this screen shot. I wonāt go back to 2.5.0-beta as that version has the screen jitter. Mmmm⦠unless 2.5.0-beta was updated since I d/lāed it and there was no version ID change.
Just d/lāed 2.5.0-beta again and checked Properties. I see under Details that the current 2.5.0-beta is release 2.5.0.162, but what I had d/lāed on 22 July is 2.5.0.161. Installed each and the ā¦161 version gave me a white screen- a Menu bar but no text or graphics; the newer ā¦162 gave me a proper screen but no release notes. Re-installing 2.5.1-alpha (2.5.1.163) didnāt magically fix anything either.
So I have jumped to the conclusion that youāre using a Mac and thereās a conspiracy afoot to force Windows users to buy a Mac!
Anyway, thank you Stuart. Now I know what Iām missing!
Bruce
I donāt get it. Whatās happening here?
No Mail/Message icon like you have. Itās missing. And Iām logged into Roast.World. Your image is cropped so I donāt see the icon but I assume itās there.
Is there something Iām not doing to get the icon to appear?
Bruce
Edit: I just logged out then logged back in but no joy.
Smug mode enabled
Hah! Bet youāve got a separate 300 Baud modem hardwired into Aillio!
Sometimes we release different alpha versions with the same version number.
Delete and close now implemented! You can download the alpha 2.5.1 again as it was updated. Just no warning when deleting yet.
Iāll look the other way as it was an alpha releaseā¦
But I still reserve smug mode.
Some folks are just too (wait for it!)⦠smug!!
OK⦠donāt hog the whole row. Time to move over one space. Just d/lāed 2.5.1-alpha (now has an ID of 2.5.1.170; was 2.5.1.163) and I too now have release notes. Hah!!
Bruce
Welcome aboard Bruce. Now we just need those firmware release notes. What a demanding bunch we are
Indeed!
Last night I found a newer version on 2.5.1-alpha on GitHub (2.5.1.171). No idea whatās different as Release Notes donāt cover the alpha. Iām all in with development testing so I installed it. Itāll be a couple days before it cools down enough in SE AZ so I can give it a try- probably Thursday.
Bruce
I havenāt had a chance to test it yet either ā we arenāt quite ready to begin roasting in the new office yet ā but from what I heard from Jacob the most obvious difference is the addition of info popups over the buttons. For those of us who have been using it for awhile it is perhaps not so useful, but for newcomers popups will be very helpful I think.
There have been times I wished for popups (at one time MS had ātool tipsā⦠same thing?). If it adds insight itās probably good. You used to be able to turn them ON/OFF in Windows, so some users may have to make a setup change to see them.
Thatās not bad duty writing code in a coffee lab!
Bruce
Had a chance to try 2.5.1.171-alpha
- Tool Tips (popups) are indeed visible now for a few of the selection icons. However they didnāt appear till about the 3rd roast⦠??
- Tried the Copy Roast ID. The result was less than spectacular- what gets copied to the clipboard is a hex string and not the text of the roast name. I didnāt try saving the profile for fear of losing the comments data, but maybe I donāt understand what the copy feature is supposed to do. I expected the Roast Name (the top line in the āUpdate roast profileā window) to be inserted. I used Ctl-V to insert and I also tried Rt-Click ā Paste with the same results both times. This is what I saw:
Roast Name: 19-08-23 | Peru Caserio ā FC+ (445°F/7F°)
Roast Name: 31c7509b-d409-4bff-a7e5-4f27a38e20e7
Maybe Iām misusing the Copy feature⦠??
If there are other things to look at Iāll need a few hints what to look for.
