A-01 Error error?

@jimmybulletroaster

This is the info from Rasmus:

“There is one small broken component on the induction board that is broken - not something we see everyday but not totally uncommon either. The newer boards has been changed so it is more durable.”

New boards are €450 these days…

Fantastic! Thank you! Really appreciate that info!

After today’s six flawless back to back 1kg roasts I think I can say that my “A-01 issue” is over.

Well, after a two months of trouble-free roasting, A-01 has returned with a vengeance. It’s going off during Shutdown, with the FA fan working just fine! During roasting, when the alarm went off, the fan was spinning. It also kept going off during the initial PH, when no fan was initiated! This isn’t a blocked vent, I had just completed a full clean, including brushing the vent. In addition, I’m sorry to note that my R1V2 is not comfortable with my new MacBook Pro (Dec. 2024/M4 Pro), which, as soon as it connected, had the coil fans go on HIGH(?) which has never happened before. So, I switched back to my 2017 MacBP, and got the normal A-01 “You don’t know what you’re doing. Stop everything and start over” treatment. It has to be the induction board, as it was with yours.

You can please check the exhaust fan RPM in RoasTime for each setting of the fan speed and report back? I didn’t see your latest profiles on RW, so I don’t have any logs.

This is the log from the last roast on January 31, 2025. I’m not sure why it didn’t show up on RW. I can check the speeds (I’ve calibrated it) tomorrow if this doesn’t work for you. The last time I checked, they were within ±1.5% at worst.

Jacob, since then, I am not able to operate the R1V2 without the A-01 constantly flashing. I tried alternatively to recalibrate the fan and the recalibration would count down after simultaneously pressing +/- above F2, but the fan did not operate. I am not able to use the roaster at all, which is putting me in a difficult situation with my clients. Here are the logs from January/February:

Hi,
I saw your logs and some of the roasts using a recipe named “Dry Process Roasts from Ethiopia” sets the fan to F0 which should not be possible.
I was not able to see this recipe, so not sure if you have deleted it?
Please check that the recipe does not contain any settings to Fan 0.

In order to check the fan please connect to RT, then go to roasting mode, set power 0, then step through each fan setting from F1 to F2 to FC and write down the exhaust RPM for each setting. This should tell us if the fan is OK.
You can see the RPM in the info panel by clicking the (i) button, then look at the Blower RPM.

I will have the engineers try to find the recipe and see what is going on.

It didn’t go well. The fan would operate for approximately ten seconds, then A-01 alarm would sound, and the fan would stop. During the time the exhaust fan was in operation, no RPM speed was registered at any setting, and, the Bullet could not/would not go into Shutdown/Shud mode. BTW, as mentioned previously, the A-01 alarm engages as soon as a recipe is chosen, even prior to starting PH. None of the recipes I viewed had any 0 Fan settings. Attached is a screenshot from the RPM trials.

From what I can see in the data there is a problem with the fan or a loose connection as it is coming On and Off.
Please contact Aillio support for additional guides of how to get this fixed.

Tech got pictures, and data, and determined a new fan was needed. While installing new fan, the wiring connection to the board literally popped off into the air. Hmmm…when I checked the wiring previously, and showed all the pictures to Aillio tech, it seemed up to snuff. Just goes to show 'ya. I put everything back together with the old fan, and had six successful, consecutive roasts. Time shall tell.
