Any R2 Pro Users Receive the Pro Cooling Tray?

Just curious if any Aillio R2 Pro owners out there have been sent the promised Pro Cooling Tray. I bought mine from Sweet Maria’s; it shipped with the standard cooling tray and a promise to send the Pro version when it was available.

Has anyone received theirs?

I got my R2 Pro from the same vendor, nothing at this time.

We are now close to mid-April. Has anyone heard anything about the Pro Cooling Tray or seen one in the wild? Someone from Aillio told me it was expected to ship in late-March, but I haven’t heard or seen anything yet.

I have not heard anything about the pro cooling tray?
@jacob might be able to give us a better timeline of delivery?

I just asked Aillio support yesterday. They said the cooling trays are shipping out to people in the order they received the initial bullet orders. Currently shipping to June-July order if I’m remembering correctly. Seems like it might still be a while for us that ordered later in the year.

I wish they’d offer us a credit/partial refund in lieu. I’ve had the Coffee Tea cooling tray for a few years now, and I don’t plan on switching over to the Pro tray.

Hey all, just got notification from FedEX from Aillio. I believe the new cooling tray will be in my hands later next week! Keep your fingers crossed.

Hello all,

I met Jacob at the SCA Expo Houston last month and he said there was a batch of 50 cooling trays that was shipped to the US and will be distributed based on purchase date. So, I wonder how many were sold in the US as I purchased mine in February 2025 :unamused:

Whoever approved shipping the R2 Pro without its advertised equipment should be held accountable—this is unacceptable. The product is marketed “Yes. All our roasters come with cooling trays that efficiently cool beans. The R2 Pro comes with a Pro cooling tray for quicker cooling — important for 1.2 kg batches — along with a built-in bean stirrer for hands free cooling.” Additionally, the claim of “12,000 units sold” feels misleading, as it likely includes mostly R1 models rather than the R2 Pro.

Quality control appears to be a major issue. I own a Behmor roaster that cost $500, while the R2 Pro is priced at $5,000—a tenfold difference. I didn’t expect a tenfold improvement in roasting performance, but I “did”expect at least a fivefold increase in build quality. Instead, I received a unit with missing parts, a broken control panel, and subpar components that don’t justify the price.

At $5,000, this isn’t just paying for manufacturing—it’s covering R&D, Roastime, and other value-added features, not leaving much for profit. If Roastime were offered as a subscription service (and made compatible with other home roasters), perhaps those profits could have funded better hardware—like proper small parts, a reliable control unit, and the advertised cooling tray.

This experience has been deeply disappointing for a product at this price point. I expect a prompt resolution and transparency about how these issues will be addressed.

I purchased mine in Dec. 2024 by now there is no expectation, it’s just easier that way, if it comes it’s like finding a $20 bill in an old jacket!!

I’m sorry you are having a difficult time with your R2. My experience has been completely different and my unit has performed exactly as I had hoped.

I view Aillio as a startup and ourselves as early adopters, so I’m willing to cut them some slack, and I haven’t been too concerned about the cooling tray. But regarding that, I just received the shipment notification for my tray. I place my order in June '24 and received my roaster in December '24 for reference. So they are working their way through the list. Hopefully yours will be coming soon.

So I’ve received my pro cooling tray and I don’t plan on using it since I already have a good cooling solution. Any guesses on what it would be worth to sell it for?

$799USD is the MSRP according to Aillio on Instagram. So definitely not more than that.

Where you located, and how much are you looking for?

Hello @miltezzard . Do you mind sharing when did you purchase your Pro? Was it through a distributor or was it from Aillio directly?
