Is it normal for the first crack to take longer and RoR to be lower when roast less beans (.5Kg vs .25Kg)?
the FC for me doesn’t take longer. It’s unclear what “longer” is when you ask. FC for 0.5kg vs 1kg for me is a diff of about a minute or less. BUT much depends on everything that leads up to it, your PH, P, F and D settings and in some cases the beans too.
Thanks for the feedback. All settings were the same (just rerunning the recipe from the previous run), except for the initial green weight. The smaller batch took ~2min longer to hit the FC. I also noticed the bean temp and RoR diverging after the power and fan changes. I’m assuming this is normal.
Maybe this thread Why differences in I-RoR traces in different roasts? might shed some light. My roast plan for a 0.5 vs 1kg are different profiles. I’ve not thought about using exact same roast plan for the two different batch sizes.
