This just started happening today – when I plug in my v1 bullet, it starts up reporting a drum temp of 200F (on the device display) even though it is stone cold. It seems to be booting up in “charge” mode (see roastworld screenshot) presumably due to the reported temperature, even though I haven’t started a roast yet.
Thinking this may be a roastworld / firmware incompatibility, I tried updating firmware, and the window looks like this – ‘Start Firmware Update’ is disabled and I can’t click on it.
Some additional information: I am using Roastime 4.14.3, and I can’t really tell the firmware version (see screenshot above). I believe the software may have updated today when I started my laptop, which is what got me thinking about firmware incompatibility, but that’s just a guess.
In case this helps anyone else that sees this – the issue is that the “Connection” button on the top right hand side was set to ‘libusb’. This apparently doesn’t work – switching it to ‘Serial’ and replugging in the USB cable fixed everything.
One additional note for anyone seeing this in the future – every time I update MacOS the setting here seems to reset to ‘libusb’ and I have to switch it back to ‘Serial’.
I started having problems several weeks ago after getting a software update notification and updating.
When running recipes that I have run for many months, I noticed that the IBTS temperatures were different than they had been in the past. Normally my R1 will show 393F at first crack for most beans. The IBTS temperature now shows 380F to 385F. now all of my recipes are off and I am trying to compensate for incorrect temperature.
When I saw this thread, I was hopeful that this would solve my problem, but it doesn’t.
The Libusb is active . If i try to reset it to Serial, the bullet tells me to unplug and replug my USB cable. When I do that, I then get a unconnected notice next to the Serial selector.
I have tried different things. I changed to serial and then powered off The Bullet and powered it back on. the setting shows as Serial, but still unconnected. While the Bullet is showing unconnected, I can’t control the bullet from my windows based computer.
If I change it to LIBUSB I can start a recipe. I will have to see if the temperature is back to where it used to be when I have a chance to try a recipe when I have time to run a complete roast cycle.
I am not happy.
In the past, some of the other old timers here would joke about “Don’t install updates”
Now I have to try to re-write my recipes to account for the incorrect IBTS temperatures.
