Can't Delete A Bean

I was just updating the inventory on some of my beans. I was able to delete some beans but others triggered “you do not have enough permission to delete this bean” . I was able to zero inventory but couldn’t delete. What am I doing wrong?

The bean may have been created by another user or other users are using that bean for their inventory.

Thanks for that info. Going forward, how do I avoid that problem? When I enter a new bean I choose the Vendor, Origin and Name from the dropdown list in Roastworld.

Let’s see if Matt can explain how to do it… ??

Hey, some other users may be using the bean you created in their inventory or in a blend. If that is the case - you can not delete the bean as it would mess up other people’s inventory.

Does that mean we have to keep it as a line item in our inventory with a zero balance?

You can also archive the bean and it won’t show in the ACTIVE listing.

The recommended action would be what @kkrawford mentioned and archive the bean in your inventory.

I have struggled to use the bean inventory. I am at the point of deleting the entire inventory and starting over, however, over half of the listings say I don’t have permission. I’ve read through this thread the impact other users can have. I am the only user and still I can’t delete. Nor can I Archive. I then tried to edit some of the listings because the name imported from the web site was long and cumbersome. I couldn’t do that either. Frustration is the word. At this point I don’t think I’ll bother and just continue with a manual inventory unless you can give me a way to make this work. Thanks.

Can you share which bean it is?

Each of the beans that is left in the inventory cannot be deleted or archived.

Fwiw, you can’t archive a bean till the inventory is 0.

Not sure if you’ve done this, but first you must create inventory ‘adjustments’ to zero the inventory. Once inventory is zero you should be able to archive the bean.

Thanks, I’ll try that. My inventory got messed up, so I was going to delete it all and start over for 2025…that’s my New Year’s resolution.
