Electricity goes out while roasting

What is the solution when the electricity goes out while roasting?
What should we do with the machine?
What is the solution to cool it down?

the machine uses such little power during cool down that you could power it off almost any UPS or AC/battery option.

If you hook the machine up the a UPS, you need to ensure the UPS has a high enough KVA rating to power the roaster while it is in roasting mode. The internal electronics may not be able to handle that, especially in smaller, cheaper models, as all that power still needs to pass through the UPS. You wouldn’t need a super large battery, as long as you know to cut the power to the heater, when power goes out

My only concern about losing power mid-roast is that the electronics wouldn’t be damaged by the heat radiating from the hot drum without active cooling. Perhaps someone at Allio could speak to this?
Could there be issues with hot beans sitting in a non-rotating hot drum, too? If this happened close to 2nd crack, would there be enough residual heat to catch the beans on fire? Hopefully not. I don’t think it would be too bad to just lift the roaster’s back end and try to dump the beans out, though.

If you lose power frequently and simply want to protect your machine, a battery-powered fan that you can blow on the underside of your Bullet to help draw heat off the heat syncs down there might be a better option than a UPS.

Using a UPS is not possible because it will require a very large battery capacity and this is not balanced with the price of Aillio itself. In conventional machines, it can be rotated manually to cool the drum. Maybe Aillio has a concrete solution to overcome this.
Thank you

If the power drops during roasting it is important to get the beans out. Open the door and tilt the roaster and pour the beans out.
Open the roast door, remove the bean shute plug and take off the chaff collector.

If you have a UPS you could connect it to this and just keep the bullet in off mode. It should start the drum and cooling fans automatically and it won’t consume more than 70W.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you explained. Can you explain it more clearly by providing an example in the form of a video or link?

As I understand it… If the power fails, get the beans out of your roaster as soon as you can by opening the door and tipping the back of the roaster up so they fall out (you may want to wear thick, heat-resistant gloves). After that, “open the roaster up” as much as possible to let all the hot air out by removing the chaff collector and funnel plug, and propping the door open.

If you happen to have a UPS, after removing the beans, you can plug it in, and it should automatically start the fans to help cool itself down while using only a fraction of the electricity.

If this helps, you will not be running full on roasts on a UPS. The Bullet, for many of us, is a sizeable investment and a UPS is more of a safeguard for power cuts. If available, you can opt for an online UPS (say 3KVA) with in-built batteries. Mine has 6 small ones rated 72Volts and gives about 10 minutes back-up that lets me complete a partial roast (nearing First Crack) and also cool the machine to OFF status.

That said, there are different usage scenarios for each user, so difficult to generalize. However, makes sense to invest a bit on a UPS to protect the Bullet and its components.
