Fix for bean trapped between the Bean Temp Probe and screw

There have been a number of posts about beans getting caught and trapped between the Bean Temp Probe and a screw inside the front cover.

This is a photo that I snagged from another thread by Jimmybulletroaster.

When I was cleaning the inside cover and the IBTS lens, I had a bean trapped there. It happens pretty often.

I took a small piece of stainless steel wire (sometimes called piano wire) and created a loop and loosened the nut for the Bean Temp Probe and put the loop on there and re-tightened the nut.

Now there is no place for the bean to get caught.

I can’t remember where I got the SS Wire. Probably Amazon.

Not sure if I’ll get in trouble recommending this, but replacing the screws with a button head screw (the ones holding the front plate, different size of course) could be a more elegant solution.

I agree. I don’t have any metric button head cap screws in my inventory.

(But I will)

Thanks, Kevin

This is definitely a recommendation for the next Bullet iteration.

This has such an impact on temp readings! I’ve been pushing any beans out between roasts, but should have upgraded to a better part or added wire a long time ago. This is one of the many frustrating things about the Bullet, and Part of why I am contemplating leaving the platform once I can afford it.

Okay, I got some M4 x 8, button head screws from Amazon

and installed them

As Kevin said: “A more elegant solution”

Edit: You will need a 2.5mm Allen wrench to tighten these screws.

Hi all,

A little update: the newer Bullets are now using Buttonhead Screws to secure the Front Plate Hinges.

Best regards,
Kevin
