Has anyone considered a digital to analog conversion of their roaster?

Good morning,

I purchased an R1 off of craigslist about 7 years ago. It had some issues and tech support was very helpful in getting the machine running well. We upgraded from v1 to v1.5. Since then, I have had so many problems with this machine throwing error codes, disassembling, reassembling, lose connections, IBTS fan not running fast enough for no known reasons. I’m just over it. It roasts great when it works, I’m a little old fashioned. I’m inclined to put potentiometers in place of all of the digital circuitry and just have simply switches. Have any of you done this as I am fully prepared to go the distance. If not, I may pioneer this as it is a great machine but the circuitry side has let me down too many times. Thank you , Sean.

Just adding some potentimeters isn’t possible i guess.
The most likely problem you have might indeed be loose connections or a defect control board.
All of which could be replaced. Even the induction board can be replaced.
My recommendation would be a professional maintenance and check. A complete disassembly and reassembly could certainly help to get it reliably running.
Would be interesting to know the error codes for root cause analyses.

Thank you for your response. I agree that it will benefit from a deep cleaning. I will try that next. The recent error has been 6824 but the fan is spinning the proper speed every time I inspect it. If I disconnect the main front bezel from the unit and let it all hang to the side with the fan also to the side it works fine. Occasionally the main board also goes on the fritz and fails to respond to button presses.

Make sure the screws holding the tiny fan are not too tight.
