FYI, on my first roast everything went fine. Had ventilation but still a lot of smoke. On the second roast ever (still seasoning the R1) we opted to move it outside to a table on my porch. We connected the Bullet with a pretty heavy-duty extension cord, and we ended up with the same problem you had: that same red LED started blinking and the temperature only fell. Heating element wasn’t working.
