LINUX - never ending story

Hey,

I am an enthusiastic Aillio Bullet roaster and enjoy all the benefits of the RoasTime software. I said goodbye to the Windows world a long time ago and now work with LINUX on all my computers (Solus-OS, if you are familiar with it).

When you’re outside the mainstream, you’re used to problems and don’t mind taking detours to reach your goal. It’s not uncommon to get to know your environment better and develop an understanding of how things work.

For several years, Roastime ran smoothly on my notebook thanks to appimage after a one-time setup. I use my notebook almost exclusively for roasting and controlling the Bullet. Now I’ve changed the hardware and am failing miserably in my attempts to reconnect Roastime to the Bullet. I’ve found some chat histories here in the forum, but none of them lead to the desired result.

I always read ‘NOT CONNECTED’ !!!

My system recognises the roaster:
lsusb returns the desired line with
"Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0483:a27e STMicroelectronics Aillio LTD- Bullet R1 Roaster FS!

Everything is also stored in the rules.d file as it should be (the missing " has been added, the Mode entry has been tried with : and without : …) but without success.

Is there no concrete, ‘watertight’ guide with error options and suggested solutions at one point or another? An ISO image (maybe a livesystem) for downloading with a rudimentary Kubuntu setup that has a working Roastime on board would be brilliant… you could put that on a stick and get started right away.

By the way, I have already tested several systems (Ubuntu, Ubuntu-based forks, Mint, Solus, etc.), but unfortunately always with the same phenomenon: ‘NOT CONNECTED’.

Is there anyone who can help me with this?
Thanks in advance.

What hardware are you running? It sounds like you already found this thread but maybe give it a look in case you haven’t seen it. It sounds like you already added your “dialout” group / usb rule. If not this thread should point you in the right direction.

What CPU arch is this new system running?

I added some instructions in our docs here: Connection Issues | Aillio Docs

Yippee, it works!!!

Thank you for your help and support. Ultimately, the script https://public.roast.world/linux-udev-fix.sh was the breakthrough. Start it once, enter the password several times, shut down the computer and restart it – connection to Bullet established!

I’m also testing this solution on other LINUX systems; it already works on SOLUS (my favourite).

A thousand thanks!!!
