R2 Fahrenheit Setting

Hello guys,

Just received my Bullet R2 today and working through setup and seasoning. All my roast experience is in Fahreneit so of course right off the bat I changed Roastime and the Bullet settings to Fahrenheit.

The issue is the R2 display is still showing it’s reading in Celcius. I’ve power cycled the unit a few times and drilled back into the F1 menu to confirm it’s set to Fahrenheit. It won’t let me increase the preheat temperature beyond 310 either, another confirmation that the display is still Celcius.

Here’s a quick video demonstrating: https://youtube.com/shorts/5r7p3jFFiDI?si=jMs1X5yThn_0vReY

If I recall, there is another setting for the front display that you have to change on the front display menu, not in the GUI/roastime?

Thanks for the reply. I did make the change on the panel and in Roastime, that’s demonstrated in the Youtube video. It clearly shows the setting is fahrenheit and the issue with celcius still being displayed. This is a brand new R2 so I’m hoping it’s just a simple bug.

Yes we are working on getting this fixed.
We are internally testing a firmware V47 and will release this soon.
You will be able to set the temperature unit on the OLED by pressing the F1 key in Off mode.

Good to hear. I had already updated to v46 manually to see if it resolved the issue.

I volunteer to beta test v47 alongside your efforts. I’m new to the Bullet but not to roasting, I’ve put over 1k lbs. through a half dozen different roasters over the years.

Hey @jimmybulletroaster. I saw your response in my email before it was marked off topic. I didn’t report your post, that was courtesy of someone else, you shouldn’t be so quick to assume it was me. Far more likely a mod here made that choice on their own. As you can see even my original post has been flagged and hidden. Certainly not my doing.

I understand you’re trying to raise visibility about your issues, doesn’t bother me. I appreciate that you tried to help initially and sincerely hope you can get the other issues with your bullet resolved.

Meanwhile, you had asked what else I’ve roasted on:
Rough estimates:
75lb Freshroast, Behmor
200lb on Artisan 3e
600lb on RK Drums (6lb and 12lb)
50lb Skywalker
5lb Bullet R2

So I’ve done it all, fluid bed, fire, heat lamp, near infrared and now induction. I still have all these roasters except the Artisan.

Why is my original post flagged and hidden? There is nothing inappropriate there and this is a topic that would certainly be beneficial to other R2 users that encounter this issue before v47 is released.

Thank you for being really transparent and honest.

I was preparing for a test that required my taste buds to be in hang over mode and I was a bit drunk last night. I apologize!

I will correct any flagging I did, if that is what happened. I only drink every three months. I am sorry that I posted last night. We got iced out by the roads and I did my “hang over tastings” a bit impromptu. This is my fault. I am entirely responsible. So sorry! I hope that the issue you raised has been resolved. If I did any flagging I will request immediate corrections.

Thank you for the post about your experience. I’ll go over it a bit more in detail after I make a local delivery. Looks really awesome. Thank you

Hi Powell,

Jimmy flagged the original post and then flagged one of your replies. I have fixed that.
I will DM you about the firmware.

I am having the same issue with my new R2P, I am waiting for a new control unit, mine was delivered broken, but was able to use manual settings for testing…but it would switch settings without touching anything. I was blaming the broken control unit and stopped using, but the 310 was similar. I guess there is a firmware update coming along with my control unit.

Why is the display such a mystery, press A several readings, press B several readings, is it C or F?, why is there two small lights that light up sometimes between F1 and F2. Can’t there be more clarification on the control unit if you’re not connected to a computer?.

Hi Dave,

The new firmware will simplify things so button B only toggles between IBTS ROR, Bean probe ROR and the Pressure.
We will update the documentation accordingly.
Yes, we are working on making it easier to understand, so expect more updates in the future.

I’ve experienced similar issues with my R2. Control panel buttons unresponsive or slow to respond.

I updated to Firmware 74 and during first roast the controls stopped working and power went to 0 and no buttons worked. I dropped beans , cooled roaster and reverted to the earlier firmware. Going to roast later today.

I experienced the same issue (firmware 74). I saw several posts on Facebook about this issue too. One stated that they had contacted Aillio and they were aware and working on a fix. For the time being I went back to Firmware 46.

I had the same problem on v74. On v69 I would get IBTS sensor errors randomly and the power would drop to zero, but only for a few seconds then roasting would resume. On 74, about 2 minutes into the roast during the drying phase I got an IBTS sensor error where power went to zero and the roast never resumed, so I dropped the beans into the cooling tray and cooled them as fast as I could; I roasted them later and they turned out okay. But now I’m hesitant to try v79, which is posted now. Has anyone tried that? I also see they uploaded an induction module firmware, but I’m even more hesitant to upgrade that, since they don’t have any prior firmwares posted for the induction module, so no going back if it’s bad. Has anyone tried the new firmwares yet?

In order to solve the power going to 0 you will have to update the induction firmware to V28. In order to update to V28 you must first update the control firmware to V79. I think this combination is very stable.

There is a guide here: Enabling Induction Module Firmware Update | Aillio Docs
