R2 Pro IBTS Noise

Hi everyone - I started garage roasting (Florida) in January and since late-March I’ve noticed noise in my IBTS curves and RoRs.

Upon research, I thought it might be related to this firmware issue back from Feb - IBTS offset problem for newer roasters.

Today I updated firmware to v159 and even cleaned the IBTS sensor for good measure. Just finished an evening roast and still seeing noise in the curve and RoR.

Below are two similar profiles, one from early March and the other tonight. Although they both share similar ambient temperatures, it’s more humid now than back in early Spring.

Curious on everyone’s thoughts or similar experiences.

Thanks!

I’m having the same issue. Hope someone can shed some light on this

Hi @ant.roasts

Could you please recheck that the IBTS bracket is installed properly?

If the bracket is not seated correctly, it may affect the temperature measurement and cause noise in the IBTS curve/RoR.

Thank you.

hi @jedsadazisz the brackets looked and felt seated correctly - are there any other items to look into?

Hi @ant.roasts

Thank you for checking. From the photo, the IBTS bracket looks seated correctly.

Could you also please check that the IBTS cable/connectors are fully inserted and properly seated on both sides? A loose or partially connected cable can also affect the temperature reading.

We also suggest updating to the latest firmware version, v165.

You can update using the web updater tool here:
bullet-r2-web-update

You can also try rolling back to the previous version, v116, to compare and see if the IBTS curve/RoR noise is still present.

After updating or rolling back, please try another roast and check if the issue still occurs.

If the issue still persists, please contact Aillio Support for further assistance:

Thanks.

Thanks again @jedsadazisz - I just checked and the IBTS cable/connectors are firmly in place.

After finding this post the other day, I updated my firmware from v116 to v159, in hopes to correct the issue. I will now look to update to v165, per your recommendation - IBTS offset problem for newer roasters.

In the meantime, are you able to find out from support if there are any similar incidents reported?

Hi @ant.roasts

Thank you for checking and confirming.

From the roast graph, I do not see the sharp upward turn after around 165°C like the IBTS offset issue reported before.

It could be related to the IBTS reading, but the small batch size may also make the RoR more sensitive.

Could you please try one roast with 500g or more and see if the issue still occurs?

Thank you.

Hi @jedsadazisz I’m receiving this error when attempting to download v165- “Download error: Failed to fetch”.

I was able to download and update to v159 yesterday.

I had the same issue trying to get the v165 firmware. My problem first went away after updating with v159 but it literally only lasted one day and then it started happening again.
