I have reason to want to roast barley malts because some of the dark malts, such as chocolate malts, and roasted barley, have fleeting flavors and aromas, just like coffee, and commodity malts of these types are like buying old stale coffee.
This said, can I roast barley malts in the Bullet or this ill advised because the seeds are too small?
Is there any way to reliably reduce the gap with the drum?
Thanks for the post. We’d like to first point out that roasting any produce other than coffee beans will void your warranty. That being said, if the barley seeds are significantly smaller than coffee beans, they are most likely going to fall out of the air inlet underneath the Drum.
Best regards,
Kevin
I used to use a Gene Cafe to do this for beer and rye bread (and not for coffee). It is exceptionally well suited for it as long as you can keep it under 250g per batch. Perhaps someone who moved on to a Bullet has one for sale
.
Thanks, I hear you. Even small coffee beans fall through the gap towards the front. I have been discouraged from trying to roast barley malts in the Bullet!
