I wanted to give the Bullet roasting community an early heads-up about a new app that is getting close to beta release.

RoastRecipeAdvisor is a web app built for Aillio Bullet users who roast from RoasTime recipes. The app syncs your Roast.World roast data, imports your local RoasTime recipe files, and uses the roast curve plus recipe context to help review the roast, identify likely correction points, and build a follow-up learning loop from one roast to the next.

The core idea is simple: instead of looking at a roast curve in isolation, the app tries to connect what happened in the roast to the recipe steps that produced it.

A few important notes:

  • RoastRecipeAdvisor is designed for recipe-driven Bullet roasting.
  • It reads Roast.World data but does not write to Roast.World.
  • It imports RoasTime recipe files for analysis, but it does not edit your RoasTime recipes.
  • Any recipe changes remain fully under the user’s control.
  • The app is currently in the final pre-release stage before limited beta.

Hi Judy,

No, I have not decided on a price for the subscription. Still a long ways from that. I need more beta testers to firm up the analyzer engine in a few areas. It’s already very robust, but there are edge cases that need to be accounted for. And making the analyzer broad enough to concider all the roast profiles (City, City+, etc.) and various charge weights has been interesting.

I’m not interested in moving to a subscription model in a hurry - if at all. If the app ever does go to subscription it would probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of $10/month. My priority is getting the app into a state that users find truly useful. I use it for all my roasts (10 or so per week) and love it. I roast exclusively to the Vienna profile.
