Hi all!
I have been roasting with a nucleus link for about a year. I recently purchased a bullet as the 100g batches on the link are not cutting it anymore. I plan on still keeping the link to make small 50g batches to figure out how I want to roast a bean. The trouble I am having is how do I translate what I am getting on the link to larger batches on the bullet? Any advice would be really helpful!
Others may have a different experience, but I have a lot of trouble making the Bullet taste like anything else I have roasted on.
Most machines use more convective energy.
The Aillio Bullet heat source is the drum, if that is how induction heating works. So the airflow has an inherent temperature lag, which has an effect on the profile. Often the bean is under roasted in the middle.
Shorter roast times and higher preheats seem to be one strategy for making a more convective roast. Or just taking it so dark that it smooths things out.
I enjoy 2nd crack on the bullet, but not on a Probat.
Medium roasts I struggle the most with on the bullet.
