Seasoning roasts 4-10

Hi everyone - I’ve done three seasoning roasts with the Bullet taking beans past 2C, but noticed in the manual that up to 10 seasoning roasts may be required, even though coffee can be drunk after the initial three.

Does anyone know 1) how to tell whether more than the first three are needed, 2) whether seasoning roasts 4-10 also need to take the same approach of P7-F2-D9 and beans in drum at P0 for 3 min after finishing (in which case I don’t know who would dare drink that coffee), or can be “normal” roasts?

You may be over thinking things.

There should be a darker and shinier look to the drum after seasoning.

If you intend to do light roasts, go ahead and get a few more seasoning roasts done, to really get some oils on there.

If you intend to do darker roasts going well into 2C (second crack), then don’t do anymore seasoning roasts, as the ultra dark roasts should be able to get your drum seasoned the rest of the way.

If in doubt, just do a number in the middle.
