Separate overlay list in RoasTime

I use a small number of previous roasts as overlays, and it would be fantastic if RoasTime had another icon, like RecipeList, for Overlays. Then, I could tag a few successful roasts as Overlays, and select from among that list, rather than searching through the entire list of previous roasts.

this thread popped up as a related post, and i figured i’d bump this at least once in agreement.

would be nice to see a few of these essential features on the main page. Definitely a UI challenge, but we know aillio team is up for the challenge

Thanks for bumping this @jimmybulletroaster

I love this idea. I think it can be a more customizable experience with tags in general. Going to get a ticket created for this.

Thanks!

We have it in a ticket, but not currently in development, sorry! I will add it to our agenda in our weekly meeting.

About to download RT4. Been on the beta still.

First, let’s rebump this excellent feature suggestion .

Second, I would like to propose a restriction: I would love to have overlays tied to my recipes, so that when I choose an overlay, only those that fit a given recipe are shown. A persistable filter as it were.

For instance, tags are mentioned to be a possible enabling route for this function. One possibility, is to have tags on recipes and then when the recipe is used for a roast, have those roasts inherit the tags. Then allow those tags as filter criteria in the overlay list. A very barebones method but fundamentally flexible for the end user.
With tags we could also choose simply to have a handful of successful roasts as overlays and tag them accordingly manually. And, with inherited tags, we can automate this with very little extra if we so desire.
