This is to recognize the excellent support that I received recently. My bean probe was beginning to fail and Aillio reached out to me and sent a replacement. A video link was also provided on the the replacement procedure. I’m very impressed and appreciative.
I also want to report the excellent product support that I received from Aillio and specifically, Matt Yau. After an email based exchange, I received a phone call from Matt to talk through the issue. Bear in mind that I am based in Chicago and he is based in Taiwan. We resolved to try something to resolve the issue, which didn’t work. So, I wrote back and he setup a Google Meet conference call. He patiently worked through troubleshooting with me, providing some tips for disassembly and reassembly, plus shared some other useful information along the way. Matt’s English is outstanding, by the way.
The issue turned out to be a result of my new user error — putting the charging funnel in backwards, which allowed beans to go where they do not belong. Stray beans had found their way surprisingly deep into the area around the drum, causing a loud squeak when the drum rotated.
Thanks Matt and Aillio for an exceptional customer service experience!
Well, my previous post was partly premature. I’m still very happy with Aillio support, it turned out that we had only found part of the problem. When I used the R2 the next time, I noticed the squeaking had returned at some point.
I tried repeating what I had done with Matt, figuring that I might have missed a stray bean or two. While I did get some additional debris out, the squeaking was unaffected. I became convinced the problem was from the area of the pulley, so I removed the rear cover and blower and found that the tiny set screw for the pulley had tumbled out onto my workbench. At first, I thought the other had gone completely missing, but I understand now that these models may only have one screw from the factory. Hopefully, I picked the right hole – the one aligned with the shaft key. I saw no residue from any previous applications of thread locking compound on the screw, so I added a drop of the blue stuff. Seems to be A-OK now, except I am now remembering that I need to go back and replace the nylon ties that I cut off during disassembly. I’m not sure what purpose they actually serve here, but I’ll replace them tomorrow.
