Getting tired of these massive swings in I-RoR

Anyone know why my I-RoR (orange line) sometimes looks like this? I look at other people’s RoasTime curves and rarely see swings this extreme.

It doesn’t happen on every roast, but probably every second or third one. Even when the machine has just been cleaned, and yes the I-RoR sensor as well. It’s wildly unpredictable.

Is this a sensor issue, something with the IBTS readings, or something else entirely? Curious if other Bullet users have experienced this and figured out the cause. I am getting sick of watching my I-RoR sky rocket and crash all over the place…I usually rely on bean sensor when it happens but for a machine this expensive it seems kind of ridiculous to have to deal with.

The main reason for this behaviour is the lack of heat. That’s why your IBTS temp, the purple line, oscillates, which then reflects on the RoR. For 300°C PH, your bean probe should be signaling close to 210°C, not 194°C as it does on this particular roast. On 1kg batches, it also helps to apply as much heat as possible from the get go. On smaller batches, there’s a possibility that the bean probe will signal crashes that aren’t there, with IBTS signaling everything normally. On smaller batches, the Bullet is powerful enough to recover the missing heat from the beginning.
