Hello,
I replaced my IBTS fan last week because my original one was starting to fail. I’m now noticing that only after a few roasts my IBTS sensor is acting as if it is dirty. I’m noticing the bean temp and IBTS temp reading crossing way earlier than I have ever seen them do so. I accessed the IBTS fan again to make sure that I didn’t put it in backwards and all seems fine. The RPMs for the fan are over 16000. Anyone have any ideas? I used to be able to roast 15-20 roasts before having to clean my IBTS sensor and now its like 5 batches before it starts acting off.
The only thing that comes to mind, as far as IBTS is concerned, is that it might have moved during fan replacement.
Also, use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol for cleaning. If you’ve bought a bottle of over 90%, dilute it to 70%. Always pass it with a dry cotton swab afterwards, because not all of it evaporates and will leave smudges.
As for the rest, check the exhaust tube and clean it with a bottle cleaner if there’s something in there creating an obstacle in the airflow. Also soak your chaff filter in some baking soda and clean it additionally with a soft brush under running water. Check your exhaust fan RPM, which should start at 600 and go with 200 increments the rest of the way. Don’t look for an exact number because it’s usually +/- 30-40RPM. You might have it set to uncalibrated, which you can change in the menu on the roaster, or it might need calibration, which it usually doesn’t. in any case, the calibration and switching between calibrated and uncalibrated are explained in the manual.

Thanks for your response it is much appreciated! I accessed the IBTS fan again and it does not seem like there is a gap. I did however add a third screw like it is pictured above. The fan I replaced only had 2 screws so that was all I used.
I then took the face plate off to clean the IBTS sensor and it looked like it had dust all over the cover which I’m not accustom to seeing. I always clean it with 70% Isopropyl and wipe it clean with a fresh q-tip after. I have done nothing else to my roaster outside of replacing the IBTS fan. Hoping that when I roast again it will be back to normal but I don’t have my hopes up unfortunately.
I’m sorry to hear that. It’s usually an airflow issue. That’s why I’ve said to check everything in the back. But sometimes it’s something that doesn’t come to mind immediately. I wish you best of luck with it and a solution will surely pop up one day or another.
