Making a spare parts order

I use my bullet to supply my coffee trailer and had a bit of a downtime scare yesterday. Shipping from Aillio to Canada is expensive and takes a while, so I’m going to order a bunch of parts to minimize the risk of downtime. Would love to have your input on whether I’m paying for things that will never fail.

Also, if you’ve had failures or lost parts not listed here, what are they?

Wear items
* Exhaust fan motor
* Exhaust fan rotor
* IBTS fan
* 2x chaff basket filter w gasket
* Drive belt
* Bean probe (NTC)
* Drum motor

Cheap insurance and things I happen to need

Item Comment
Control (display) PCB Do these actually fail?
Main cable Seems like it would be hell to fix if damaged during cleaning.
Cooling tray cable Seems delicate and exposed
air transfer tube insulation My machine is getting old and they all fell off the tube
Bean tryer The stud fell out of mine.
IBTS assy Lots of failure stories, maybe this is actually a wear item?

Won’t bother with these; I can source them locally
* Drum bearings
* Induction fan
* Cooling tray fan

Howdy:

First, Making this list is brilliant. I will steal it from you, hope that’s OK.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the infrared sensor?

Another thing to consider (which I am doing) would be saving up for another machine so that you can have a back-up as well as to encourage longevity in both machine’s lives.

In addition, the R2 Pro reportedly roasts much more than the R1, so I’m planning to upgrade down the road for increased efficiency.

Good point, I already have a spare IBTS assembly, but it belongs on the list. I’ll sit on this for a week or so before I order to give others a chance to chime in.

Only speaking from personal experience here but I would add the induction PCB unit. I had a power surge that messed with the internals on mine and it ended up dying on me. It’s an expensive part but after about ~1500 roasts (1162kg) of beans mine kicked the bucket. Easy swap out and a lifesaver for my machine.

In which case, is there any way to use a surge protector?

it was on a surge protector. the surge wasn’t what killed it and I’m not sure what did. Here’s my original post re: the failure

Hi. Can I ask where you bought your IBTS assembly? I’m trying to buy one and can’t find one. There are like two places that stock “spare parts” and they are all out of stock. I haven’t received a response from Aillio. I’m in the States, and Sweet Maria’s, their distributor, doesn’t stock them or the bean probe. Thanks

Sweet Marias does… You probably need to look under the “extended parts page”

IBTS: https://www.sweetmarias.com/bullet-r1-ibts-module-set.html

Probe: https://www.sweetmarias.com/bean-probe-ntc-for-the-bullet-roaster.html

Got mine direct from Aillio while ordering some other parts. It was a complicated situation though.
