Unknown Bug that erases roast titles, corrections, and descriptions

I do not have the latest version.

I connected rt4 to the Internet, and did not get any auto update. so I downloaded the latest version from the aillio website and installed that. While I remained online, I had no issues, but the following day, while roasting offline, the issue returned.

How do I force auto update?

Is the latest update only compatible with later Mac OS?

Hey @jimmybulletroaster,

The update should be download automatically in the background. This won’t happen if RT is blocked from accessing the internet. You can see the status in the Software section of the settings modal (as shown here). Can you share a screenshot of what is shown on your RT? If either of the values under Current Versions is missing, it means your RT is likely blocked from accessing the internet.

Unless you’re on a version of the Proxy that’s 1.43.1 or higher, you will keep encountering this issue. Re-downloading RT from roastime.aillio.com won’t fix it immediately because that version app is packaged with an older version of the Proxy service. However, after this RT has been installed and started, it will try to download the latest proxy version.

You might need to leave RT open and wait until it shows the “update available” notification. Once this is shown, you should be able to restart the app and get the latest Proxy version.

I don’t block RT.

I just don’t want you guys taking my work for free. I put in the hours, I should have a choice to share or not share my work with aillio.

I’ll leave the app connected longer and see if it offers an update.

Hi,

Great, it should download automatically in this case then. The proxy service takes a bit longer to download than the Client and Communication Service. But you should see a notification pop up once it’s ready

Installed latest update.

Did not fix the bug.

Still experiencing roast titles self deleting.

Hmm… we have tried about every variation of roasting we can think of. (offline, online, online->offline, offline->online, restarts in between, etc) and just can’t get this to happen.

Do you still roast exclusively offline? Is there any type of significant event it happens at? Just on startup? Can you try sending your logs? Maybe we will have to add more to determine the cause.

Does this still happen for you as well @ferg ? At this point, I think may just take one of us jumping on a screenshare and watching/debugging on the fly if it is reproducible.

Thanks!

Yeah, I don’t know what to say, it happened after I installed RT4, and nothing else has changed. It happened immediately after the installation.

The only time I notice things working, is briefly after going offline, it works for a little while, but then starts deleting edits again.

Any thoughts?

This issue has been going on for about 1 month

Got sidetracked a bit today, but do you want to screenshare (using something like TeamViewer)? I think that will be the most efficient way to figure out your issue. We could setup some time tomorrow maybe?

Would like to see it happen and also view the flow of traffic live to see if we can figure it out.

What flow of traffic? I don’t roast online, and do not have internet where I roast.

Have you tried

1 - delete all roast history
2 - sign in to RoasTime
3 - do not sign out
4 - close RT4
5 - go offline
6 - stay offline
7 - open RT4 the next day and do not enter roast title until after the roast is complete.
8 - close RT4
9 - open RT4 and look for any titles that were edited

So far, if I reinstall or do an update or sync online, RT4 works fine for about a day, and then the issues starts happening again the following day.

Your local application has multiple binaries running. There is a flow of traffic between them local to your machine is what I meant.

I will try the steps you outlined today.

Any updates?

I am still not able to recreate using those steps, but trying some other long delayed variations to be thorough.

Thanks.

What Mac OS are you testing on?

Although, this issue has also happened on Windows briefly, as well, I want to remind you that I am on a 32bit Mac with an older OS.

@mcaillio
Any updates?
