Zero-play spindle

Beans falling out during roast from the vent behind the door so I started looking for the reason and wondered if it has something to do with the drum alignment and specifically why the bearing does not protrude from the faceplate like in others that I have seen?

Checked a couple of easy things, drum seems OK: the gap between the door and drum is about 1 mm and I can push the drum back and it springs forward and it turns easily.

The only thing that appears different is that the bearing sits flush against the front plate and there is no play in it at all. I cannot push the center spindle, for instance.

If it weren’t for beans falling out I would not be concerned, and it may be totally unrelated. The machine has less that 20 roasts on it and I am new to it all.

One other curious thing, is that the bottom screw in the face plate does not screw all the way in, it goes about 1/2 way and stops. Could this be affecting anything, the face plate is securely fastened to the body with no gaps, but thought I’d mention it.

Anything I should do to correct things or just keep on roasting? I have read that the bean falling out issue, eventually ‘goes away’??
