USB device not recognised

During a roast RoastTime stops responding, and I get this message:

Your device connected via USB has malfunctioned and may have stopped working

The Bullet seems okay. I haven’t noticed anything unusual since this has happened, and I finished the roast manually. However, I cannot seem to get the Bullet to connect to my laptop. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this? New cable perhaps?
